International Volunteer Day: meet the class of ‘24

December 5th is International Volunteer Day, the perfect time to give a shout out to our newest Nourish volunteers!

After graduating our volunteer training programme, they are now certified Level 1 Class Assistants - a really important role that helps us deliver our cooking classes across the North East.

Hands-on training

During the 4-week programme, our volunteers learned everything they need to know for the role in a series of hands-on workshops, including food hygiene and first aid.

The programme concluded with a mock-class that gave our volunteers the chance to show what they had learned - and they did not disappoint!

After setting up the classroom, they supported our Food Skills Trainer as he taught the class and guided class participants through the different stages of the recipe.

Ready for the kitchen

Now that they have graduated, these fantastic Class Assistants are ready to help us deliver our cooking classes and events across Newcastle, Sunderland, Washington, County Durham and Teeside.

We are so happy to welcome them to the Nourish team!

Make a difference: Volunteer for Nourish Food School

It is thanks to our volunteers that we are able to deliver amazing food experiences across the region.

Whether it's helping set up our cooking classes, supporting class participants, filming recipe videos or measuring ingredients for our recipe kits, Nourish volunteers are a vital part of our team.

Experience isn’t necessary - all you need is a passion for cooking!
