Volunteering at Nourish

IF YOU ARE ALREADY A VOLUNTEER AND NEED TO CHECK THE SCHEDULE CLICK HERE TO LOG IN

We're always looking to build our team of volunteers to support the delivery of our cookery classes that take place across Newcastle and support people to cook from scratch. Volunteering with us can include working with children, families, young people, general public and vulnerable adults.

Becoming a Volunteer for cookery classes involves the following:

- basic food preparation ahead of classes taking place

- setting out equipment ready for the class to take place

- assisting the Food Trainer during the class (for example: getting the next step in a recipe set up)

- circulating around the room to ensure everyone is following the trainers instructions well

- encouraging and motivating those taking part and making them feel proud of their achievements

- washing up equipment during and after the class

- working with children, young people or adults

We support volunteers with basic food handling training, although we ask that all our volunteers:

- have a passion and interest in cooking from scratch

- have a non-judgemental attitude to supporting people of all ages and from all backgrounds

- be compassionate and understanding of differing needs of different people

- have lots of initiative and are good at problem solving

- have a super friendly and positive personality

- be able to travel to venues that could be in different areas of the city

- have no current personal circumstances that might make you unsuitable or unsafe for volunteering with the people in the classes you are matched to

If you have a clear DBS Certificate already then let us know as this will open up your opportunity to work with us in some specific settings, such as schools.
